After 17 years on Elmwood, Cozumel Grill & Tequila Bar is CLOSED. Previously known as the Elmwood Outback, before becoming Cozumel, this was destination patio bar in Buffalo and the home of the area's biggest & best Cinco de Mayo celebration. We'll miss cervezas and deep fried cactus strips on the patio and late night tequila shots.

We wish the next owners of this prime drinking & dining spot on Elmwood the best of luck & hope that they continue the tradition.

Every year, Buffalo kicks off the summer season with one of the biggest Cinco de Mayo parties in the Northeast at Cozumel Grill & Tequila Bar on Elmwood Ave in Buffalo, NY! Friday night, Cozumel Grill & Tequila Bar celebrated their 13th anniversary. Buffalo's favorite Mexican restaurant & patio bar put on a delicious Buffalo style feast of roast beef on weck & chicken wings along with a spicy pasta & pizza. Cozumel's patio and tent were destroyed by the storm. But that didn't stop the partying inside. Even with only 50% power and frequent outages throughout the night, Cozumel was the Sabres game party headquarters. Bobby and the gang served up free munchies including wings & nachos as we all watched the Sabres beat Hasek & the Red Wings in a shootout on Cozumel's giant flat screen TV's. Cozumel Grill & Tequila Bar has been here on Elmwood in the historic Allentown neighborhood of Buffalo, NY for 11 years. Cozumel is widely known for their spacious patio and friendly bar atmosphere. But, they also serve up the best Mexican and southwestern food in Buffalo. Traditional favorites and tasty originals, they have something for everyone. Cozumel recently bought the building next door from Budget Rent a car. They have added some much needed parking for the growing business. The old Budget building is also being converted into a banquet hall - a great addition to one of my favorite restaurant/bars. As with any business in this small parochial town, building or expanding anything is never as easy as you think it will be. Questions of design, traffic and noise have been raised by just a few. But it only takes one complaint to squash the best laid plans. I attended a meeting with one of the owners at Cozumel and several of our neighbors. One neighbor complained about garbage, vandalism and late night noise from the patio. For us, street crime and trash from street people are by far the biggest problems. I live directly across the street from Cozumel and haven't had any problems with noise and trash from Cozumel. Most of the crime and vandalism that we worry about happens long after everyone has left the bar and the street's deserted except for the crackheads. The only time our street is busy with people and cars is when people come to Cozumel. We're happy to have people visiting here, from all over the city and the suburbs. I think the business that they're doing is great for all of us and is well worth any minor inconvenience from one drunken idiot who crosses the line occasionally. Cozumel employs up to 70 people during their peak and would like to be able to retain more of those employees during the traditionally slower times. One of my neighbors told me that he didn't see how the employment of those 70 people benefited him in any way and therefore was not Click Here For The Rest.

Cozumel bought the adjacent property where Budget Car Rental was located and is now providing more off-street parking.
