With gourmet burgers popping up on menus all over the place, what does Pierce Arrow Burger Bar have to offer? Grass fed beef, hormone free, no steroids. Sure all of that. But what's really great about Pierce Arrow burgers are the creative flavor combinations and the expertly prepared ingredients. And, much more reasonably priced than most of the competition. With places charging filet mignon prices for ground beef patties, the Pierce Arrow offers flavor AND value. Buffalo IS still a working class town. And most of us don't want to spend a lot to go out for a casual meal.
So on to the burgers that we tried. Just the facts. This isn't a critique so much as a description of what you'll find. And the fact that we enjoyed it very much.
With so many delicious options to choose from it came down to a tossup between the Hangover, a cheeseburger with fried egg, sharp cheddar, bacon, sweet maple aioli, lettuce & tomato or the Elvis with peanut butter, bacon jam, tempura fried bananas, potato chips...they had me at peanut butter...on a burger. In any case, the picture here is worth a thousand words and a taste of this burger worth even more. Chef Alex has definitely scored a hit with this mountain of flavors. And for only $12.
And for Mrs. Barfly, it was the Big Fat Greek Burger: grass fed lamb, tzatziki and aquaponic romaine on an onion pita for only $13!
The Black Raspberry Peach Salad: frisee, fennel, black raspberry, walnut with honey peach vinaigrette.
And for dessert, several fried goodness options AND milkshakes! This time we tried the deep fried s'mores which came out in the form of a roll (similar in appearance to a pizza roll). Very delicious.
Overall this was a flavorful and satisfying meal, extremely reasonably priced. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the menu.
